As most of our members have seen, this year has brought challenges in the form of low signups for our race rounds, and has already contributed to the cancelation of Round 3. This same issue has affected motorcycle road racing organizations across the country, proving the challenges we are facing are bigger than the MRA.

It appears that, in the current economy, racers are finding it difficult to commit to a full season of racing. As a board, we have taken a serious look at the current season schedule and asked ourselves “what is in the best interest of the MRA and its members for the rest of the 2024 season?”

The answer we have arrived at is to be proactive, by reviewing the remaining schedule and making changes NOW, that enable racers, suppliers, vendors, tracks, and other stakeholders to plan the rest of their season with certainty, rather than leave doubt as to whether a round will be canceled in the days leading up to it.

To that end, the MRA Board of Directors has voted to make the following changes to the remainder of the 2024 season schedule:

  • Round 5 will continue as planned.
  • Round 6 will no longer include a 2-hour endurance race, but run the typical weekend schedule instead (including the popular 2X Sprints on Saturday afternoon).
  • Round 7 is pre-emptively canceled, partially due to even lower anticipated signups (from being scheduled on the Labor Day long weekend), and to help reduce the financial burden on racers by providing more time between events.
  • Round 8 will remain as scheduled, and will become the double-points event that was originally planned for Round 7.

We have not made these decisions lightly. As a board we feel that being proactive in this manner is the best way to help our members respond to the challenges facing the motorcycle road racing community at large.

We are taking the lessons learned from the scheduling this year, the reality of the current economic climate, and factoring these into our planning for next year, so we can present a successful 2025 season for all our members.

It is our hope that these changes will assist in attracting more signups for the remaining rounds on the schedule this season.

We look forward to racing with you at Round 5!
